The Metro Air Support Unit of St. Louis has a new credential.
It recently became the fourth police aviation unit to receive Airborne Law Enforcement Accreditation, an international certification.
As well, Metro Air Support became the first multi-jurisdictional unit to be honored by the Public Safety Aviation Accreditation Commission (PSAAC). PSAAC develops and maintains the standards for law enforcement aviation units.
St. Louis County Police Department, in cooperation with St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department comprises the flight unit.

In addition to a new mobile equipment storage truck and armored vehicle, the St. Louis County Police Department has purchased a new helicopter for its Metro Air Support Division.
The $2.1 million craft is a MD-500e helicopter that will replace an older 1967 surplus army helicopter currently used by Metro Air Support, maintaining its fleet of aircraft at six.
