Metro Air Support Gains International Accreditation

2014

The Metro Air Support Unit of St. Louis has a new credential.

It recently became the fourth police aviation unit to receive Airborne Law Enforcement Accreditation, an international certification.

As well, Metro Air Support became the first multi-jurisdictional unit to be honored by the Public Safety Aviation Accreditation Commission (PSAAC). PSAAC develops and maintains the standards for law enforcement aviation units.

St. Louis County Police Department, in cooperation with St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department comprises the flight unit.

Between the three law enforcement agencies six helicopters are flown: two (2) OH-6As and four (4) MD 500Es.

The unit is housed at St. Louis County's Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
